Office of International Affairs
With the conversion of national universities into independent corporate entities in 2004, this is one of four offices that were formed as an organization of the faculty council (the other three are the Office of Research Promotion, the Educational Support Office, and the Assessment/P.R. Office). Meetings are held regularly every two weeks before the faculty meeting. The activities conducted there relate to the following four divisions: the furthering of international cooperation, the admittance of international students, international student aid, and the Erasmus Mundus Program.
The Division of Furthering of International Cooperation
Deals with issues relating to:
- Academic and educational exchange agreements with foreign universities.
- Support for international collaborative research, international conferences, and international academic development.
The Division of Acceptance of International Students
Deals with issues relating to:
- Acceptance of international students.
- Support for research and training as well as support for everyday life for all international undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Letters.
The Division of International Student Aid
Deals with issues relating to:
- Receiving international students from abroad.
- Support for international students.
The Erasmus Mundus Program
- This division handles issues relating to the implementation of Erasmus Mundus (Euro-culture) courses as well as the allocation of staff, scholarship recipient recommendations, and the admittance of consortium instructors.
In addition to these divisions, there is also the International Exchange Center located in the Foreign Student Adviser’s office with specialized staff and instructor as well as two staff members in the registrar’s office who deal primarily with issues involving international students.
