Human geography

This major course, established in 1995, concerns human geography, the science of relations between people and environment, and between people and geographical space, by developing a wide variety of models and frameworks. Human geographers are committed to a widely diverse studies: some are engaged in overseas fieldwork to explore the ways various peoples exploit natural resources; others analyze old maps to reproduce landscapes of past days; still others use computers to calculate the complex movements of modern city dwellers. Yet, in all sorts of studies, the researchers must develop keen interest in and insight into various environmental and spatial issues. The faculty members of this course are committed to developing new organizational systems and improving equipment to enable challenging new studies.
