Admission Policies
for the (Undergraduate) School of Letters
At the School of Letters, you will learn and consider what humans do. You will discover what we, humans, have done in the past, clarify what we are doing in the present, and, on the basis of these two points, explore what we should do in the future.
The School of Letters is committed to raising capable individuals who can meet the expectations of contemporary society. These individuals, who should have a keen interest in human beings and the society in which they live, are expected to open the path toward the future by demonstrating their reasoning abilities and awareness.
The School of Letters not only covers a wide range of study areas but also spreads across several different fields of expertise. These fields share one common principle—emphasis on the intellectual enthusiasm of learners. In other words, the School values the learner’s thinking process with correct reasoning, and encourages them to not be content with merely knowledge acquisition.

- who can recognize the cultures and societies of Japan and other countries multi-dimensionally and comprehensively.
