Hamilton
Commonly called Middle Oakey, Hamilton was named after Thomas Hamilton,
Cooktown's first magistrate. This forgotten missing town was surveyed in
1879 at 15°31', 145°06', about 20km west of Cooktown. The name survives
for a local homestead.

Now called the Lukin River, a tributary of the Coleman River running to

Maytown
A forgotten gold mining town, originally called Edwardstown after the local
butcher, Jack Edwards. Surveyed in 1875 by A.C. Macmillan who named it
Maytown after his daughter; it had a post office from 1876 to 1945. Situated
at 16°03', 144°17', about 135km north west of Port Douglas.
