Initially called Klondyke, this forgotten copper -mining town was surveyed in 1910 at 17‹03' 144‹06' about 140 km west of Mareeba.

Named after a musical comedy, it was changed to Mungana, about 110 km west of Mareeba.

Named after Patrick Grogan who opened a butcher's shop in this forgotten
gold mining town surveyed in 1889 at 16‹24'@144‹19' about 125km east
of Port Douglas. The name is still used for a local plantation.
