Germein's Roads
Now called Port Pirie. Sir John Pirie, Lord Mayor of London, was one of the ten original directors of the South Australian Company.

Samuel's Creek
Named after Samuel Germein, skipper of the government schooner Waterwitch which carried stores for Edward John Eyre's expedition across the Nullarbor. Renamed Port Pirie in 1845 after the first overseas vessel to enter the port.

Compbell's Range
So named by Eyre after Robert Compbell, the Sydney merchant, Eyre says, rather vaguely, that the ranges were to the north of the Broughton. He probably referred to Mount Zion and the Bluff, just east of Port Pirie.

Deep Spring
Named by Eyre who gave its latitude as 337; its longitude@was about 13805, not far from Port Pirie.

Devils Glen
An abrupt gorge, several hundred feet deep, through which the Rocky River wound its course. It was named, Eyre thought aptly, by his men. About 25km due west of Port Pirie.

Flinders Lake
An alternative name for Franklin Harbour on the western shore of Spencer's Gulph, Spencer Gulf.
