Study Spaces

In addition to general dictionaries, encyclopedias, illustrated reference books, reference books related to fields of study, and students can also read the latest donated and purchased magazines.
Brand new reading desks and chairs have been brought in, creating a relaxing space for studying. Materials cannot be copied in this room, but students may temporarily check them out. The lending period is one week for general books and until closing time on the day of check-out for reference books and magazines. The lending period for the frequently checked out “Japanese Translations of the Scriptures” and “Taisho Edition of the Buddhist Canon,” however, is the same as the period for reference books. The bound magazines that were previously set up in the student study rooms have been moved to the 5 th floor of Building A of the Main Library. |

Printing and Binding Room
| There are various machines in the back across from the student study rooms, including a microreader, simple binding machine, automatic binding machine, cutter, printer, automatic paper folding machine, automatic hole puncher, and electric paper arranging machine. The room is usually locked; a key can be borrowed from the student study room counter. |

Reservations are required to use the space when classes are not in session or on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. |

The Research Commons can be freely used for studying and meetings.
However, because regular classes are given priority, the time slots during which the space cannot be used vary each term. When a student of the School of Letters or the Graduate School of Letters is responsible for use of the space, exclusive use of the Research Commons can be reserved for studying, meetings, or extracurricular activities, if the student applies one week in advance. Applications for exclusive use are accepted at the educational support center. |
