国際シンポジウム「教育と発達のための社会神経科学」が無事開催されました

国際シンポジウム「教育と発達のための社会神経科学」が、2024年3月21日（木）と3月22日（金）に、世界的に著名な神経科学者であるプリンストン大学のUri Hasson教授を基調講演者に迎えて、京都大学で無事開催されました。大阪大学人文学研究科も共催しました。

日本をはじめ、アメリカやヨーロッパ、東南アジア、インドなどから約160名の参加申し込みがあり、開催当日は、約40名がオンラインで視聴し、約30名が対面で参加しました。オンラインでは、入れ替わり様々な方々が視聴されていましたので、実際には40名よりもっと多くの方が視聴されていたようです。

Hasson教授は、"Deep language models as a cognitive model for natural language processing in the human brain"と題した基調講演で、人間の脳と人工知能の類似性と相違点について、言語の学習とその運用に焦点を当てて論じられました。また、他の講演でも、神経科学の知見を用いて、様々な学びについて多様な議論が展開されました。

会場からは、Hasson教授の基調講演はもとより、その他のどの講演も内容が濃く素晴らしいという声が聞かれ、質疑応答のセッションでは活発な意見交換が行われました。レセプションでも、和気藹々とした雰囲気の中で、議論や研究上の情報交換などが活発に行われました。

International Symposium on "Social Neuroscience for Education and Development" Successfully Held

The International Symposium on "Social Neuroscience for Education and Development" was successfully held at Kyoto University on Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22, 2024, with world-renowned neuroscientist, Professor Uri Hasson of Princeton University, as the keynote speaker. Osaka University's Graduate School of Humanities also supported the event.

Approximately 160 people from Japan, the U.S., Europe, Southeast Asia, India, and other countries registered to participate. During the two days of the symposium, about 40 people watched online and about 30 people participated in person. The actual number of people watching online was much larger than 40, as there were many different people watching in turn.

In his keynote lecture entitled "Deep language models as a cognitive model for natural language processing in the human brain," Professor Hasson discussed the similarities and differences between the human brain and artificial intelligence, focusing on language learning and use. Other talks also used neuroscientific findings to discuss a variety of learning topics.

The audience commented that not only Professor Hasson's keynote lecture but also all the other talks were rich in content and excellent, and there was a lively exchange of opinions during the Q & A sessions. At the reception, discussions and exchanges of research information took place in a friendly atmosphere.
